Rep. Patrick Kennedy Crashes Car Near Capitol
By ANDREW MIGA, AP
WASHINGTON (May 4) - Rep. Patrick Kennedy crashed his car near the U.S. Capitol early Thursday. He denied alcohol was a factor.
"I was involved in a traffic accident last night at First and C Street SE, near the U.S. Capitol," Kennedy, who represents the New England state of Rhode Island, said in a written statement released by his office Thursday afternoon.
"I consumed no alcohol prior to the incident. I will fully cooperate with the Capitol Police in whatever investigation they choose to undertake," Kennedy, son of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, said in the statement. It was issued after news reports surfaced about the accident.
According to news reports, the single-car accident happened around 3 a.m.
Capitol Police did not immediately return phone calls for comment.
Kennedy, 38, spent time at a drug rehabilitation clinic before he went to Providence College in Rhode Island. He has openly discussed his personal mental health problems, including having been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Early this year he spoke about having been in recovery "for depression, for alcoholism and substance abuse."
Kennedy is the son of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass., and his former wife, Joan Kennedy.

Hmmmmmm.... Let's all think about this for a second. Patrick "Patches" Kennedy is an admitted drug addict and abuser of alcohol. Bi-Polar to boot but we won't hold that against him. His father is a well known world class drunk, and to some a MURDERER. Joan his mother is also a well known "Lush" on the social scene. It is 3:00 AM on a weeknight when this "accident" happens. MMMMMM Sounds like probable cause to me to assume BOOZE or some other "controlled substance" most likely played a factor in this incident. A single CAR accident as well. Regardless let us ALL be thankful that at least another Kennedy hasn't taken an innocent life while driving a car... This time... But what the heck. It isn't "Patches" fault he has these problems. Just look at the ROLL MODELS he had growing up. Yeah right......

Poor lil Kennedy... you know, their lives seem doomed, don't ya think?!

I would bet ya that he was under a controlled substance. But, since he wasn't checked for that, I'm sure, we'll never know.

It never ceases to amaze me how these ppl never get busted for things... if it's not the high powered politicians, then it's the stars. Somebody needs to get tough on crime and stop allowing these losers to do whatever in the hell they please.

I'm sure his daddy got mad about this... uh huh, that's for sure.

Well Tooners, ole "Patches" has fessed up as you probably know by now to driving under the influence of something and is checking his candy ass into "ReHab"... AGAIN! Police has issued several citations to him as well so there is at least minimal justice.

I sure hope the fine people of Rhode Island are proud of the fine choice they made for a Rep. At least I am happy he isn't from Taxachusettes. Then, we are stuck with "Patches" father Ted "Rudolph" Kennedy. Sometimes the Democratic process is just a failure.

BTW

This it seems was the SECOND accident "Patches" has had in less than 3 weeks.... hmmmmmm.

Same problem here when I come back to the US this time. I got myself back to bed at a normal time for this time zone but for some reason I would wake up about 90 mins earlier than "normal". It took me about 2 months to get back to "normal". It was pretty rough there for while but slowly things worked themselves back to a regular schedule.

I wonder how "Patches" is doing sleep wise in Rehab?

Well, if he's anything like his daddy, he'll do what he needs to do and then be back on the streets in now time. I wonder what's up w/ this family... their whole clan seems to be cursed. You know that his daddy was no role model. They're all just a bunch of spoiled lil rich kids who can do whatever they want and face no consequences. I only wish I could see all the late night talk shows on the topic. I saw a few clips and looks like we're missing out big time!
